چکیده

We derive the distribution of the dimensionless specific angular momentum of dark matter halos, P (j), in the framework of the standard tidal torque theory, and explain the characteristic shape of P (j) commonly observed in N-body simulations. A scalar quantity (shear scalar), r, is introduced for measuring the effective strength of the tidal torque force acting upon the halo from the surrounding matter. It is found that the ubiquitous and broad shape of P (j) can mostly be attributed to the unique property of the shear scalar r, and also that P (j) is insensitve to the underlying collapse dynamics. Our result demonstrates that although the shape of P (j) is ubiquitous and close to log-normal, the distribution is not exactly log-normal but decays exponentially at the high angular momentum end, and drops slowly as a power-law with an index 2 at the low angular momentum end. A Model for the Density Distribution of Virialized Cdm Halos

An analytic collapse model for the formation and density distribution of virialized cold dark matter halos is proposed. Hierarchical structure formation is taken into account explicitly. Monte Carlo methods are used to generate samples of mass histories of virialized halos. The mean density distribution found from the collapse model is in good agreement with numerical results in the mass range ...

We study properties of dark matter halos at high redshifts z = 2−10 for a vast range of masses with the emphasis on dwarf halos with masses 10−10hM⊙. We find that the density profiles of relaxed dwarf halos are well fitted by the NFW profile and do not have cores. We compute the halo mass function and the halo spin parameter distribution and find that the former is very well reproduced by the S...

Angular momentum and clustering properties of early dark matter halos

In this paper we study the angular momentum properties of simulated dark matter halos at high redshift that likely host the first stars in the Universe. Calculating the spin distributions of these 10 − 10 M⊙ halos in redshift slices from z = 15 − 6, we find that they are well fit by a log-normal distribution as is found for lower redshift and more massive halos in earlier work. We find that bot...

An Analytical Approach to Inhomogeneous Structure Formation

We develop an analytical formalism that is suitable for studying inhomogeneous structure formation, by studying the joint statistics of dark matter halos forming at two points. Extending the Bond et al. (1991) derivation of the mass function of virialized halos, based on excursion sets, we derive an approximate analytical expression for the “bivariate” mass function of halos forming at two reds...

The Angular Momentum Distribution of Gas and Dark Matter in Galactic Halos

We report results of a series of non radiative N-body/SPH simulations in a ΛCDM cosmology, designed to study the growth of angular momentum in galaxy systems. A sample of 41 halos of differing mass and environment were selected from a cosmological N-body simulation of size 32.5h−1Mpc, and re-simulated at higher resolution with the tree-SPH code GADGET. We find that the spin of the baryonic comp...
